Video Review: Renault Duster
Before motoring journalist Juliet McGuire became WOW’s online content producer she worked at CAR magazine where she began a career in presenting with Tech Report and Ignition TV. Her first review with Ignition TV was that of the Renault Duster 1,5 DCI Dynamique.
A car Juliet often gets asked about is this Duster, so here we get to see what her thoughts are about this inexpensive 4X4.
The Duster was launched last year and expectations were high, it was a first for Renault and with engine sizes getting smaller and fuel prices increasing, there was a lot of eyes on this car entering the compact SUV segment.
It might not be the most refined of its class but it doesn’t need to be. It is what it is and that is an affordable 4X4 that is as capable as many other more expensive off-roaders. The 1,5-litre dCi 4X4 in particular is impressive. It has a turbocharged engine and so produces 80 kW and 240 N.m of torque, meaning that it has enough power and overtaking acceleration is sufficient. It has a claimed fuel consumption of 5,6 litres/100 km.
This is a car for those with an active lifestyle. If you enjoy surfing, camping, or anything that involves adventure then this Renault Duster is a perfect contender. It is spacious, practical and reasonably priced. This is the top of the range Duster and it is priced at R244 900. The entry level Duster is priced at R199 900.
