New BMW M4 CS launched at South Africa’s first-ever BMW M Festival
The BMW M brand has a strong presence in South Africa and with over 45 dealers nationwide and a large following of M car fans, BMW Group South Africa will be hosting the country’s first ever BMW M Festival.
With the much anticipated event taking place this weekend (21 – 22 October 2017), Women on Wheels attended the festival’s unveiling at an action-packed, M powered media day, yesterday. With over 10 000 tickets already sold, one thing is for sure: BMW customers, fans and car enthusiasts are in for an epic weekend at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit!
Festival-goers will get a sneak preview of current and upcoming BMW M models and the opportunity to take part in hot laps and test drives across the BMW M as well as the M Performance model range. There’ll also be drag races, drifting and a walk through one of the largest BMW showrooms, where one of Ndebele artist, Esther Mahlangu’s, artworks on a BMW Individual model will be displayed.
The BMW DTM race team (Team Schnitzer with drive Tom Blomqvist) will also make an appearance and visitors can join them for hot laps in the BMW M4 DTM car around the circuit.
Apart from all the exciting car-related activities, there’s more than enough to keep everyone busy and excited with music by some of South Africa’s top DJs and artists, gourmet food and drinks, as well as a children’s entertainment area.
New BMW M4 CS launched at first-ever BMW M Festival
While attending yesterday’s media day, as a prelude to the BMW M Festival, we also got a sneak peak of some of BMW’s upcoming M models, such as the highly anticipated M5 and new M4 CS.
The M4 CS was available to test on the track and was in hot demand as the media lined up to experience this limited-run special-edition model! The M4 CS is said to fill the gap in the line-up between the M4 Coupe with Competition Package and the track-focused BMW M4 GTS.
Packed with M power!
Its 3-litre high-performance engine has a raised output of 460 hp (338 kW) and 600 N.m of torque. TwinPower Turbo technology gives the M4 CS a top speed of an electronically limited 280 km/h and sprints from 0 – 100 km in just 3,9 seconds. The six-cylinder in-line engine develops high torque at low engine speeds with an acclaimed combined fuel consumption of 8,4-litres/100 km.
The new BMW M4 CS is equipped with a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) with Drivelogic as standard. The transmission enables automated, uninterrupted gear changes, while paddle shifts on the steering wheel give the driver the option for manual intervention.
Interesting to note is that the BMW M4 CS achieved a Ring Lap time of 7 mins 38 secs at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, which put the CS in super-sports car territory.
Of course, the interior of the M4 CS maintains its overall sportiness, but its lightweight M sports seats trimmed with Alcantara and leather give the cabin an even more compelling and ambiance. It’s a sporty, but rather grand place to be when you’re inside the M4 CS and its dynamic interior gives both driver and passengers a welcoming sense of comfort.
Outside, two new colours are available exclusively for the new BMW M4 CS special edition: Lime Rock Grey Metallic and San Marino Blue. A prominent front end includes three-section air intakes at its base which allow cooling air to reach its high-performance engine and the fade-resistant M compound brakes with four-piston callipers at the front and two=piston callipers at the rear.
The BMW M4 CS is priced at R1, 838, 500.
