Nissan sponsors five wheelchairs to #DonateAWheelchair campaign
Nissan handed over five sponsored wheelchairs to individuals in and around Pretoria this weekend as part of the Barkzz Foundation’s #DonateAWheelchair campaign.
The broader campaign ultimately aimed to donate 200 wheelchairs to disadvantaged individuals living across South Africa who are not part of disability centres.

“It is our hope that through this initiative we will be able to fulfil our brand promise of enhancing the lives of others and help to empower these individuals to make meaningful contributions to their community,” said Keba Matlhako, Senior Manager: BBBEE, ED and CSR Corporate Affairs.
#DonateAWheelchair was launched by the Barkzz Foundation, an organisation which advocates for the social integration of people with disabilities. The campaign is based on the idea that people with disabilities have as much potential to contribute to society as physically-abled people when platforms are put in place for them to access the same opportunities.

The Pretoria handover of the wheelchairs took place at the beneficiaries’ residences to allow for greater community interaction. Nissan assisted with the handover by providing transport for the Barkzz Foundation to and from the handover locations.
The handovers were held over three days with the first being on the 18th March in Winterveld and Hammanskraal, the second on the 19th March in Olievenhoutbosch and Arcadia, and the third and final handover on the 20th March in Ga-Rankuwa.
