Fire on the N2 in Durban – road shut down!
A fire on the N2 has resulted in the road being shut down. The massive fire was a result of a petrol tanker crashing directly into a diesel tanker.
Emergency services have been on the scene trying to control the mess since early this morning. However the highway is still closed and is causing massive delays!
Emergency services expect it to take the rest of the morning to clear the fuel spillage and debris from the roads. The road also needs to be deemed safe for motorists by inspectors from the department of transport.
Tips for driving on the N2 near Cape Town Airport!
Apparently the fuel trucks started leaking, resulting in the massive fire, spreading further down the N2.
Paramedics have treated two people, who only sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Spokesperson Robert McKenzie said, “As a result of the massive fire raging, paramedics have only treated two patients at this stage and firefighters have managed to contain the blaze.”
Another terrifying reason not to drive on the N2 at night!
So it looks like it’s under control and fortunately only two people faced minor injuries.
