R2m Mystery Maserati abandoned on UCT after crashing!
This expensive sports car crash landed onto the UCT Hiddingh Campus in Cape Town CBD over this past weekend (27 September 2015).
No one is quite sure how the mystery Maserati landed up on campus, but grounds staff suspect it occurred while speeding around the bend on Orange Street. After losing control of the vehicle, it ramped up over a wall and smashed into a courtyard ceiling. The car then came to rest in what appears to be a walkway.
What’s even more mysterious, is that the occupants were nowhere to be seen. It appears they quickly abandoned the vehicle after crashing and fled the scene.
Security guards report that the incident happened around 02:00 and that soon after the crash a man was seeing fleeing from the wreckage.
As of yet no one has claimed ownership of this mysterious Maserati! Traffic Services spokesperson Maxine Jordaan said they had no record of the accident.
Maybe a stolen vehicle gone for a joy ride? The thief loses control and flees the scene. Or perhaps another case of drunken driving, with the driver fleeing the scene to avoid any DUI charges. We shall have to wait and see!
