10 struggles of owning an old and run-down car
Whether you’re a student or a young adult, you might be familiar with the feeling of owning an old, run-down car.
You know, the car that’s already been passed down from your father to your oldest brother to your irresponsible twin sisters and then your aunt used it for a while and now you. But, you really can’t complain as owning a car is a privilege and you didn’t have to pay for it anyway. Although, owning a second-hand, first car is a great life-lesson, there does exists some struggles that come with the property:
1. When driving from home to uni on Sundays or after the holiday, you’re always a little afraid and not quite sure you’ll make it there.
2. You’re always scared of randomly breaking down next to the road.
3. Traffic on the highway is a nightmare.
4. The guy that works at the fuel station already knows you and is acting a little TOO familiar as he has had to change your flat tyre just about a billion times.
5. You’re always sweating as the aircon just never works (or you’re just too scared to turn it on).
6. It pains you to fill up the fuel tank, as it almost costs as much as your car.
7. When you hear a weird noise you FREAK OUT.
8. Your friends at the back are always kind of stressed out.
9. You need to attach your rims to your wheels with plastic lock seals otherwise they might just fall off…
10. Sometimes you think people judge you.
However, even though owning an old car can be stressful at times, there’s a reason why it’s so important to have a ‘first car’ before you get your ‘dream car’.
