“Uber victims” want answers for their attacks
There have been numerous reports of people getting in to what they think is the Uber they have ordered only to realise too late that they are in fact not in an Uber. What then takes place is nothing short of terrifying.
ENCA reports that two members of the so-called Uber gang who were arrested for alleged rape, robbery and assault will apply for bail next month.
The victims of these alleged attacks however want answers from Uber. Each of the victims still received an Uber receipt for the horrific ride. Uber, however, maintains that the driver arrested for the crime spree was no longer working for the company.
HERE’S HOW TO STAY SAFE WHEN USING UBER
Despite Uber General Manager, Alon Lits, insisting they are assisting in any way they can, the lawyer representing the so-called Uber victims says the company has done little to help them. “We’ve not received any communication from Uber,” said Ulrich Roux.
ENCA reports that Lits disputes this and is also adamant that these attacks – while horrific – have not affected public confidence in the safety of the Uber service.
The good news is that Uber is testing additional safety features in cars such as dashcams and panic buttons.
