All-new Volkswagen Polo to be launched in 2017!
An all-new Volkswagen Polo is set to be released in 2017. Automotive rendering specialist Theophilus Chin has drawn up what he believes the design will be.
The renderings paint the style evolution that the hatch is likely to follow. A shape that’s familiar, but sculpted around the shoulder and front end – much like the rest of the latest models from VW, in particular the Passat.

Apart from the exterior, it will be a very different car under the hood. The new Volkswagen Polo will be built with the renowned MQB modular platform, which will eventually underpin the majority of Volkswagen’s front wheel drive vehicles. This design reduces weight and saves on costs.
The new Volkswagen Polo is also expected to be slightly larger than the current model and as a result, more spacious. The car will also feature the new technology and driving assistance that will filter down from models such as the Golf and Passat.

The engine range is expected to consist of versions of the 1-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, currently only found on the BlueMotion model in South Africa.
Following on from the current version, the new Polo is set to be built in South Africa for both local and export consumption. This forms part of a R4.5b investment that was announced earlier in the year.
