Want to feel like you are driving in the future? BMW takes you there!
A few days ago WOW attended the launch of the all-new BMW connected drive technologies and boy were we blown away! In its newly renovated head office BMW unveiled its world-leading connected technologies- to keep you connected with your car at all times. BMW is proud to be the first brand to bring the outside world into your car and bringing automotive infotainment into a whole new dimension.
As technology progresses, so do our lives, and this is exactly the niche BMW is approaching. For the first time in SA these technologies we’re revealed, which will be available in cars manufactured from the 1st of July onwards.
These technologies broadly include the services and apps and also the driver assistance technologies. BMW is expanding their services and apps targeting them directly to the customers’ needs. With this, you won’t have to rely on your smartphone or tablet, you can now do all those things with the gadgets provided inside your car! No more texting and driving ladies!
All BMW models are to be fitted with a built-in SIM card as standard from July and August 2014 production. Overall, the new structures that will be available are: the intelligent emergency call, the anticipatory vehicle service, BMW remote service, real time traffic info, the www in your car and free calling 24/7. The safety of the driver is now a number one priority – for example, if you are in an accident there is the emergency call on stand by, which comes as a standard feature in all cars. The anticipatory vehicle service also tracks everything within your car for the driver’s convenience. With the BMW remote service you are in touch with your car via your smartphone 24/7. You can now avoid those irritating traffic jams, always know what the weather will be like and if ever you do happen to get stuck in traffic or have to wait for someone it’s not a problem as you have uncapped internet in your car! There is also a concierge service available, so if you are running late and want to quickly buy last minute flowers for you best friend’s birthday, your car can tell you where the nearest florist is!
The BMW i Connected Drive services are there to assist the driver when at home and can accompany them all the way to their final destination while using further forms of transport. As such, BMW i is setting a marker for the future of mobility (available from March 2015 when the BMW i3 and BMW i8 go on sale in South Africa).
