If you haven’t named your car, your car is part of the unloved majority. A recent poll shows that 53% of car owners give their vehicles nicknames.
Some of the other findings include:
-49% of owners identify their cars as either male or female.
-There are twice as many ‘female’ cars (32%) on the road as ‘male’ (16%).
-The vast majority of women (88%) view their vehicle as female.
-Men split on gender: 55% associate their vehicle as female and 45% as male.
The accepted cliché is that men have a more personal relationship with their beloved cars, while women view them as mere utilitarian machines. This conception is actually incorrect, and women are significantly more likely to christen their vehicles. Also, first cars, blue cars and red cars are the most likely to get names, while grey cars and green cars are more likely to remain nameless.
What are the most popular names? The most popular letter car names start with is the letter ‘B’; and under the most popular names are Bertie, Baby, Bettie, Charlie, Bokkie and Herbie.
