Guy crashes through Viglietti Motors window killing one person!
Yesterday, IOL News reported that the luxury car shop in Cape Town, Viglietti Motors had been hit in a death crash. The car shop was greatly damaged and unfortunately a homeless man was killed in the process.
An informal car-guard was at the scene when it happened:
Siphe Fefe was watching as two young men stumbled out of the Shack, near Viglietti Motors, early on Tuesday morning.
“They were very drunk, shouting and running,” he said. They jumped into their car, a white Mazda 323, and accelerated towards the foreshore. It was 2 am when the two intoxicated guys drove away. “The driver was leaning out of the window, pulling faces and teasing us. He wasn’t looking where he was going; he only pulled his head back inside when he reached the intersection,” said Fefe.
It was too late for the driver to brake. From Fefe’s view the car didn’t slow down before it smashed through the glass storefront of Viglietti Motors, where five homeless people were sleeping, wrapped tightly in their blankets.
It was only when police arrived that he saw someone had been killed. The other four people sleeping outside were unscathed. A woman sleeping at the petrol station opposite the car shop saw the whole scene unravel. She said after the car crashed into the window, the two guys got out and one of them had a piece of glass stuck in his head.
Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk confirmed a man had been found dead inside the dealership. His body had been found underneath the front of the Mazda. The 22-year-old driver was taken to a nearby hospital for blood alcohol tests and was later detained. Van Wyk said a case of culpable homicide had been opened.
One of the cars in the showroom had been damaged. A spokesperson for Viglietti Motors stated his feelings of sadness for the death of the homeless man. He said a car can be replaced, but not the life of a human being.
