Metro police threatens 3-year-old child
Two Metro Police officers were apprehended on Tuesday after they allegedly threatened to shoot a 3-year-old when her mother refused to pay a bribe. According to the JPSA (Justice Project South Africa), the tragic incident began when the mother was stopped by the Metro Police with her 2 and 3-year-old children.
“It is alleged that the officer tried to solicit a bribe from the woman after she failed to produce her driver’s licence,” said JPSA in a joint statement with Crime Line.
When the woman said she was not going to pay the bribe and the 3-year-old child began to cry one of the Metro cops allegedly took out his fire arm and threatened to shoot the small child.
She said her daughter who was in the back seat of the car, was crying and the officer told the child to shut up or he would shoot her. They then proceeded to rob the woman as well.
The woman immediately reported the matter to the police and the Metro Police officers were later arrested.
