These are SA’s most deadly road habits
Do you engage in risky behaviour while driving? Actions such as reaching for the glove compartment or putting on lipstick may seem menial, but in reality this can be a death trap.
In a survey reported by Wheels24, many South Africans admit to the following dangerous actions while driving at about high speeds of 100km/h: putting on lipstick, doing their hair, checking their appearance in the mirror, turning around to check on children, brushing their teeth and even shaving (yes, seriously)…
According to Dialdirect, research shows that 15 percent of people surveyed reached for items in the glove compartment at the same time as driving at about 100 km/h. While this activity might seem innocent and actually has become commonplace, it could be deadly, as could all these other driving habits.
The survey also shows that eating and drinking was commonplace with many South Africans sipping their morning coffee in the car or eating breakfast or lunch while on the road. Tuning the radio or inserting a CD was another major vice for South Africans.
These little things that you may think are harmless, can also be accidents waiting to happen. Have a look at the ten major things you should definitely not be doing while driving to make sure you are not committing to a deadly habit on the road.
