Volkswagen introduces Golf GTI derivative
Volkswagen’s best selling Golf GTI is expanding! A new derivative is being introduced, the GTI Performance Pack.
Did you know that the Golf model range’s performance derivatives, the Golf GTI and Golf R, account for about 60% of the total monthly sales of the seventh generation Golf in South Africa.
The Golf GTI Performance Pack will offer more power than the standard GTI which produces 162 kW, the Performance Pack producing 169 kW. It will be powered by the same two-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine )TSI). Both have similar torque of 350 N.m. It reaches a top speed of 248 km/h and takes you from 0-100 km/h in 6,4 seconds. The fuel consumption is claimed at a relatively low 6,4l/100km.
The Performance Pack will only be offered with a DSG transmission and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) will come standard. The second generation DCC offers three driving modes “Comfort”, “Normal” and “Sport”. In “Sport” mode, damping is increased (which further reduces movements of the body structure) and engine response and shift points of the DSG are configured to be even more dynamic.
So what else separates the Performance Pack from the standard GTI? Some exterior features such as the red GTI logo at the back and on the front brake callipers. Optional features will include Bi-Xenon headlights, Discover Pro Radio with satellite navigation system, Light Assist with dynamic beam control, panoramic sunroof with tilt, keyless access and engine start, park distance control and park assist.
The price for this 2,0 TSI GTI Performance Pack 169 kW is R447 800 which is about R20 000 more than the standard 2,0 GTI DSG.
It comes with a standard 5 year/90 000 km service plan and 3 year/120 000 km warranty.
