New car seat rules parents need to take note of
Traveller24 have reported that from the 30 April 2015, parents will, by law, have to strap their children in to a car seat.
The new regulation will be introduced to the National Road Traffic Act officially on the 1st of May but law enforcement officers will be cracking down on parents before that.
According to Traveller24, the law states that children under three-years-old will have to be strapped in to a car seat when travelling in a car.
Arrive alive conducted research which shows that child safety car seats that are installed correctly and used for children 0-4 years can reduce the risk of death for infants by 70% and by 47-54% for children aged -14 years.
The Minister of Transport, Dupuo Peters, says that motorists are warned, “We will catch you and there will be dire consequences.”
