It looks like a regular Auris – however it’s anything but. This is the Auris HSD (the acronym stands for Hybrid Synergy Drive) and this five-door hatchback is as green as the hills of Ireland. It’s fun to drive too; there’s even a meaty supercharger under the bonnet! Built at Toyota Motors UK Burnaston, the first factory in Europe to mass-produce a hybrid vehicle, the terrific thing about this greenie is the fact that, when you floor the accelerator, it responds instantly (that’s because the electric motor kicks in right from zero revs).
