Chevrolet Sonic gets an RS badge
General Motors South Africa launched the all-new Chevrolet Sonic RS this week. The RS joins the local Sonic model range as what Chevrolet call the new halo model.
It sports a 1,4-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 103 kW of power and 200 N.m of torque. WOW is yet to drive it so keep your eyes our for our driving impression.
What does sound fun, however, is the MyLink system that comes standard on this model. It allows you to play or watch your media in the car. It uses Bluetooth audio streaming to become “an extension of your phone.”
At R225 300 you would expect the standard spec to be pretty good. Think airconditioning, electric windows, cruise control, leather seats, sunglasses holder, USB port, and multifunction steer wheel. Standard safety features are also pretty good with ABS, hill start assist helping with those dreaded hill starts, airbags, central locking and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
The Sonic RS comes with a three year/60 000 km service plan and a five year/120 000 km warranty as standard.
As mentioned, stay tuned for WOW’s driving impression and reader’s impression of the Sonic RS.
