The all new Jaguar F-PACE debuts in SA
It was at the annual Jaguar Simola Hillclimb this weekend that fans were treated to an aerial display that saw the Jaguar F-PACE make a grand entrance by helicopter.
Thousands of fans watched Jaguar’s first-ever SUV, the F-PACE which was mounted to a custom vehicle platform rigged via cable, arrive via a Sikorsky S-61N helicopter.
“The Jaguar Simola Hillclimb is the perfect setting for unveiling the anticipated F-PACE. It offers dynamic capabilities and performance synonymous with Jaguar, but also brings a new level of practicality and AWD capability to the brand,” said Lisa Mallett, Marketing Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. “F-PACE is the kind of car that you could drive across the country to visit Knysna, and then take on the high-speed twists and turns of the challenging hillclimb road.”
The crowd then got to witness Jaguar’s ambassador and Hollywood actor, Sharlto Copley, take the F-PACE on its maiden voyage down the Simola hill.
The F-PACE is powered by a 3,0-litre supercharged V6 engine that produces 280 kW of power. It has mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This SUV can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5,5 seconds. It seats five occupants and even the rear passengers will be able to enjoy heated and electrically reclining seats.
