Volkswagen launches limited edition Beetle in South Africa
The Volkswagen Beetle has to be one of South Africa’s greatest icons. When the new Beetle was launched, we all stood up and took note. It was such an exciting launch, I was lucky enough to attended it Germany. Even more exciting is that Volkswagen has decided to launch a limited edition version, called the Beetle R-Line, to the South African market.
Only 50 units will be available of this limited edition model which sees a redesigned front bumper, a larger central air inlet, and other exterior modifications.
The exterior modifications are rounded off by a new optional paint finish, White Silver Metallic, standard Park Distance Control, the newly colour-coordinated 18-inch Ravenna Adamantium silver alloy wheels and smoked LED tail lights.
The Beetle’s interior has a black painted dashpad and upper door panels, the glove compartment in original Beetle style, the standard additional instruments (boost pressure, oil temperature and stop watch) above the instrument panel and the ambient lighting. Seat fabrics have also been changed.
The Beetle R-Line is equipped as standard with the Composition Media radio system and eight loudspeakers. Its features include a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, USB interface as well as App-Connect (only Apple CarPlay compatible).
The Beetle R-Line sees a 1,4 TSI engine under the bonnet producing 110 kW of power and 250 N.m of torque. Fuel consumption is claimed at 5,7l/100km.
