We Drive Ford’s Sportiest (and range-topping) Kuga…

Up until recently, Ford’s ST-line was mostly associated with its popular Fiesta hatchback, but now, Ford has brought ST styling and fun to its Kuga SUV. 

The exciting ST-line is available on the Kuga’s Ambiente and Trend derivatives and is powered by the popular 2.0-litre EcoBoost and TDCi models. We’ve been driving the latter, which is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission AND an all-wheel drive system.

Sportier ST-styling

The ST-Line trim level adds a number of sporty elements to the Kuga’s exterior, from a blacked-out grille and blacked-out 18 (or 19) inch wheels to a new bumper, rear spoiler and black roof rails, just to name a few. This, together with ST-Line badging gives this family-friendly SUV a sportier edge and road presence for active families.

Sportier ST-Interior

Inside, the Kuga ST-Line features sporty, partial leather seats with coloured stitching that carries through to the steering wheel and gear lever. I love the comfort and sportiness of the Kuga ST’s seats – they give you a feeling of confidence and support behind the wheel and it’s easy to sit back and feel relaxed, even if you’re driving on twisty or bumpy roads.

For connectivity, the Kuga ST-Line features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay which you can use to connect the car to your own navigation system – you’ll need to pay a little extra to get the Kuga’s Nav System as it doesn’t come as standard.

Sportier ST-driving

For the ST-Line, you have a choice between the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. The 2.0-litre TDCi is exclusive to the ST-Line and produces 132 kW of power and 400 N.m of torque. It is also combined with Ford’s Intelligent All Wheel Drive system and is mated to a six-speed PowerShift Automatic gearbox. For diesel customers, the 2.0-litre EcoBoost ST-Line delivers 177 kW of power and 340 N.m of torque. The ST-Line also gets AWD for both engines.

As you’d expect, you get a lot of punch and power from both of the ST-Line engines. A number of mechanical enhancements, such as its dropped and optomised suspension and steering, give the Kuga ST-Line that athletic and sporty driving dynamic. So although it’s a family-friendly SUV, you won’t miss out on any driving fun.

All models come standard with Ford Protect, comprising a four-year/120 000km comprehensive warranty, three-year/unlimited distance roadside assistance and five-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty. A six-year/90 000km service plan is included, with 15 000km service intervals.
