Specifically hoping to promote and develop their interest in cars! By helping them feel the joy and importance of having a dream! By drawing pictures of their dream cars, the President and CEO of Toyota, Mr Akio Toyoda, wanted to create a platform that allows children to use the power of creativity and imagination! Despite his demanding schedule, Mr Toyoda remains the chief judge of this Dream Car Contest!
“The Dream Car Contest gives Toyota a glimpse into the minds of children around the world. It allows us to see their hopes and dreams for their countries and the world at large. It also provides a platform for us to showcase South African talent to the world. This competition is held dear to our hearts and we are always excited to see what the children of South Africa have in store for us. We would like to encourage all South African children to enter. We love seeing your dreams,”
said Glenn Crompton, Vice President for Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors.

The contest began in 2004 and has shown significant increase in the entrants from South Africa over the years. From just over 350 in the first year, to as many as 13 000 entries last year!
The Dream Car Contest takes place around the world, with youngsters competing under three different age categories. Namely the under 8 years old, 8 to 11 years old and the 12-15 years old age categories. The top five contestants from each country win prizes on the national level, while the top three go on to be entered into the international competition. Which is again judged by Mr Akio Toyoda.
This year’s theme is, “Your Dream Car.” Each contestant is encouraged to showcase their imagination and draw the car of their dreams! The car could fly, clean the environment, save lives or even create world peace! No dream is too small for this competition.
