Electric cars for women? We look at 3 new EVs coming soon!
While electric cars aren’t particularly gender biased, we look at what we think will be very well suited electric cars for women, coming out soon!
Chevrolet Bolt – 2017
The Chevrolet Bolt to be released in 2017, has an estimated range of more than 320 kilometres per charge! And it should come at a relatively affordable price.
“Designed from the inside out, each element obsessed over: from the perfectly sculpted proportions to its distinctive technology, efficiency flows all around. Because when you experience Bolt EV, the difference is in every detail.”
With the 240-volt charging unit (professional installation required), charging the Chevrolet Bolt EV is as easy as plugging in your cell phone. The available 240-volt charging unit provides more power and will charge your Bolt EV faster. The standard Location-Based Charging feature makes it easy to customize your charging settings when at home, and take advantage of public charging when away.
Ford Focus Electric – 2016
Avoiding the petrol station will be fun in the new 2016 Focus Electric. With zero petrol, zero oil changes and zero CO2 emissions, it delivers a 100% electrifying driving experience. What’s more, you have the choice of charging options – the standard 120-volt/30-amp convenience charge cord or the available 240-volt/30-amp home charging station.
Recharge as you drive, as applying the brakes actually charges the battery! When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost to heat due to friction. However, regenerative braking recovers more than 90 percent of this energy and sends it back to the battery pack to be stored for later use. Brake Coach is also a smart feature on the 2016 Focus Electric. Located on the instrument panel screen, it tells you the percentage of braking energy captured after each stop. The higher the percentage, the more efficiently you are braking.
Sustainability meets style, with the Ford Focus Electric featuring 100% recycled seat fabric! Standard cloth seat cushions are made of soy-based bio-foam derived from plant seed oils. Optional leather trim is available.
Unfortunately where the Ford Focus Electric may lack as an electric car for women, is that the driving range is only around 150 kilometres. This may be a little low for some! However the recharge time is fairly quick, claiming you can recharge to 80% in just 30 minutes!
VW Phaeton – 2020
In light of recent events, VW aim to launch a flagship electric car by 2020. The car will feature:
“Pure electric drive with long-distance capability and next-generation connectivity and assistance systems.”
From a sales point of view, electric cars for women seem to be less appealing at this stage. Getting stranded after running out of battery seems to be a worrying factor. So this long-distance capability might make this more appealing as an electric car for women.
VW insiders say the electric Phaeton will share its platform architecture, drive system and battery technology with the upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron, as previewed by the e-tron quattro concept at the Frankfurt motor show.
The e-tron quattro concept car is powered by three electric motors, with one sending drive to the front wheels and two rear-mounted motors acting on the rear wheels.
