How the Ford team prepared for the challenges of Le Mans
Ford Chip Ganassi Racing drivers competed at the Le Mans 24 Hours race this weekend (17-18 June). The Ford GT can drive up to three hours at a time, which has huge physical and mental demands.

Many people believe racing drivers don’t train. Like any elite athlete though, drivers have to in order to withstand the physical demands of endurance racing. And some of what they do is very specific. Hours of sauna-like heat, cornering g-forces akin to riding a roller coaster for three hours and knowing that one false move could spell disaster. Like any elite sportsperson, this means training is essential. Bespoke physical workouts strengthen neck, arms and core, and improve cardiovascular fitness and hand-eye coordination.
