‘International Female Ride Day” – 6 May 2017
LADY BIKERS SA and Harley-Davidson® are once more encouraging female riders from all motorcycle brands to participate in the activity on the 6th May 2017.
For the second consecutive year Harley-Davidson® is supporting and sponsoring the event in South Africa, as part of a long-term partnership with Lady Bikers SA.
All authorised Harley-Davidson® dealerships have offered to support the event and are opening their doors for the ladies to get together to organise the rides starting at the dealerships nationwide.
The event is open and free for all female motorcycle riders.
Harley-Davidson® will also be sponsoring the official event pin – created by Lady Bikers SA – and will hand these out to the first 50 registrations at each dealership. No registration is required for participation in the ride itself, although to obtain a pin, ladies should register for free here.
“It is encouraging for us to see a consistent rise in the number of women riding their own motorcycles in South Africa. Growing the sport among women is a key focus area for us – with women now making up 20% of our own Harley Owners Group® community. Along with other developmental events like this, we also lead the Passport to Freedom project which offers free rider courses for everybody (men and women) in a drive to grow ridership in South Africa,” said Sue Nagal, Consumer Experience Manager at H-D Africa and a motorcycle riding enthusiast for many years.
Sue organised the first Ladies of Harley rally in 2015, and the Harley-Davidson brand supports and sponsors several other female motorcycle events and activities such as the annual Lady Biker SA Rally in the Western Cape each year – effectively placing the manufacturer at the forefront of women’s development within the local motorcycle industry.
