This lady is taking over the racing world one race at a time
Racing might be known as the epitome of a mans world to most, but slowly and surely this is changing, especially in South Africa…
Fabienne Lanz, a South African race car driver that has driven on some of the toughest tracks in the world, is quickly climbing the ranks of national as well as international race car driving as she is one of the best female Kart Racing Drivers in the country at the moment. She has a vision to go to the top in Motorsport and strives to be the best in all Motorsport categories she competes in.
Fabienne started her racing career at the age of 9 and she is currently making her mark in Italian Kart racing. She comes from a racing heritage as her father,Peter Lanz, is a former Saloon car champion. Racing is a predominately male sport and Fabienne is hoping that competing and winning races will see more lady racers join and succeed in the sport. She describes her racing style as smooth and precise and she says she will never let a challenge go without a fight.
Fabienne currently races high performance karts and did her debut in Saloon Cars in May 2011. She is looking to further her career in Single Seaters and in a Production Saloon Series. She wants to spread her wings and eventually end up in the World Class, prestigious Formula 1 or International Touring Cars.
She also teaches other drivers better skills on and off-track. Fabienne is an Advanced Driving Course Instructor. She does most of her work at Gerotek, an old army base that is equipped with Skid pans, dynamic handling track, a speed oval, off road tracks to aquaplane and brake testing straights. Fabienne does the high speed advanced driving at Zwartkops race track, close to Pretoria, where she shows clients how they can improve on their driving at higher speeds and get comfortable in their cars in a safe environment.
