A R700 000 fine for driving 20 km/h over the speed limit? What?
In South Africa a speeding ticket for driving 20 km/h over the speed limit would be around R500, but in Finland one businessman got fined over R700 000 (€54 024) for speeding 20 km/h over the speed limit.
In Finland speeding fines are calculated according to the driver’s income. So, this driver obviously earns quite a lot…
iAfrica Motoring reported that the speedster was caught speeding at 64mph (103km/h) in a 50mph (80km/h) zone.
The wealthy businessman posted an image of the speeding fine on his Facebook page, and then he complained about the controversial regulation and revealing that he was “considering leaving the country”. We don’t blame him!
