Android Auto comes to BMW | Women On Wheels

We’re permanently connected these days, running our world relies on our mobile devices. With the need for integrated connection we’re seeing more manufacturers including connection apps of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features.

BMW is extending the connectivity in its vehicles with Android Auto starting in mid-2020. Android Auto is the latest digital and user-friendly service addition to BMW’s line-up.

Android Auto is integrated directly into BMW’s fully digital cockpit. It will allow customers to connect their android smartphones wirelessly to their vehicle and enjoy access to useful information such as destinations, appointments and more via the infotainment system. Your phone information will not only be available through the central infotainment display but also in intelligently adapted form in the instrument cluster info and the Head-Up Display, where it appears directly in the driver’s line of sight.

Android Auto is an added safety feature to new BMWs, making it easy to access music, media and messaging apps. The google assistant on Android Auto simplifies getting directions, keeping in touch and staying productive.

Senior Vice President Product Management, Peter Henrich says, “Many of our customers have pointed out the importance to them of having Android Auto inside a BMW for using a number of familiar android smartphone features safely without being distracted from the road,  in addition to BMW’s own functions and services. We will offer this service to our customers starting in July 2020.”

“We are excited to work with BMW to bring wireless Android Auto to their customers worldwide next year. The seamless connection from android smartphones to BMW vehicles allows customers to hit the road faster while maintaining access to all of their favourite apps and services in a safer experience.”

Android Auto in  BMW will be demonstrated at the Consumers Electric Show (CES) 2020 and will be available to customers in 20 countries for all vehicles with the 7.0 BMW operating system.
