Another ‘mom’ car on the cards, this time from Ford
We get a lot of enquiries about cars with space. Enough space for all the kids and their friends. Thankfully, the market is growing once again in this segment…the MPV segment. Or like many people term these cars, “Mom taxis.” But we don’t love this term, so we will stick with MPV for now.
Ford has launched the B-Max MPV which will arrive in South Africa later this year. It is built on the same platform as the current Fiesta but Ford refers to it as a multi-activity vehicle (MAV). “The Ford B-MAX really challenges traditional small car thinking,” says Tracey Delate, General Marketing Manager at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA). “Its ingenious design opens the doors – quite literally – to exciting new ideas about what’s possible with a compact vehicle.”
It boasts rear sliding doors making it easier to enter or exit the rear seats, attend to children in car seats or load and unload shopping. We like the sound of that and we are sure many of the parents out there will too.
Although the full line-up will only be revealed at launch, the range will include the 3 times “International Engine of the Year” 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine.
More information will be available closer to the launch.
