Attractive men distracting women on the road?
It seems like it’s not only mobile phone usage that causes distracted driving!
iAfrica Motoring reported that a recent survey has found that men’s attention while driving is prone to wandering in the presence of attractive females… okay okay, that will probably not surprise you at all. However, the survey also found that at least 15% of women confessed to be distracted by attractive men on the road.
“The survey was conducted by Allianz and found that of the 1425 men polled, 51 % admitted to being distracted by beautiful females while driving,” said Robyn Farrell, 1st for Women Insurance’s Executive Head.
The survey also revealed that men are as likely to stare at the ladies whether they themselves are single or in a relationship. On the other hand, women in a committed relationship are only half as likely to be distracted by attractive men as their single friends.
“Higher earners are more distracted by women when behind the wheel,” Farell added.
According to a separate British survey of women by motors.co.uk, men who show off their wealth, power and fancy cars might actually not always get the girls.
“Women expressed admiration for those males who drive more sensible hatchbacks with fewer carbon emissions. In fact, owners of expensive sports cars were seen by 53 percent of females as self-centred and even a danger on the roads. The hybrid drivers were seen as more intelligent and down-to-earth. It seems that although the stereotype of men being easily distractible by the opposite sex holds true, the old stereotypes of which cars make you seem more attractive are definitely shifting,” said Farrell.
