Audi driver caught after speeding at 222km per hour

The Gauteng Traffic Department recently arrested the driver of an Audi for clocking a speed of 222km per hour. This driver was just one of 13 arrested in the Department’s most recent operation.

According to the Department’s High-Speed Unit, the driver, who was speeding in a red Audi A3, was caught while in a 120km per hour zone.

They also nabbed the driver of a silver Mercedes-Benz E-Class who was driving at 208km per hour. The High-Speed Unit says it also caught other motorists speeding at 198, 178 (two), 177, 173, 172 (two) and 171 km per hour, all in 120 km per hour zones.

Three other drivers were caught for driving at speeds of 172, 158 and 153 per hour in a 100 km per hour zone.

The 13 drivers will face charges of reckless driving and exceeding the speed limit.
