Behind the scenes at the WOW cover shoot

The compliments have already started rolling in about the cover of WOW 2013 … but, what most readers won’t realise is the fact that the WOW team was really “torn” when it came to picking our cover star.
Not the car. The brand new, stunning Mercedes-Benz A-Class was the obvious choice for the cover of WOW 2013 – this sporty hatchback is sassy, beautifully designed and simply perfect for each and every WOW reader.
But the challenge was finding a beautiful girl to complement our metallic cover star.
And so the search began … we knew that we wanted someone with the same credentials as the A-Class: she had to be beautiful, highly desirable, special and decidedly classy. She needed to turn heads around town. She could not be mundane…
It was a tall ask – we finally ended up with two drop-dead gorgeous models and, on the day, the sensual Anouschka Dap pushed all our buttons. We believe that photographer Gavin Kleinschmidt did a sensational job of capturing her, along with the captivating A-Class.
Of course, it was pretty easy to capture the dynamic A-Class and get it to look as gorgeous as Anouschka. Low and progressive, the new A-Class has defined edges and tautly drawn surfaces – much like Anouschka’s chiselled face. The constant interplay between concave and convex surfaces creates a characteristic play of light, particularly along the sides of the car, which meant that we could shoot it from virtually any angle. But we decided to go the traditional route, and shoot it from the front – showing its pronounced V-shape, separate headlamps, the radiator grille with central Mercedes star and double slats to either side of the star.
Sadly it was impossible to show the interior of the A-Class on the cover too – because that’s a great place to be. At times it was difficult to extract our models from inside the car – they gave the quality finishes a definite (manicured) thumbs up.
An emotive exterior. A magnificent interior. Exemplary safety features. Powerful engines. And low emissions. The new A-Class represents nothing short of a motoring revolution.
