Which is the best car in the world … for women?
The countdown has begun… The announcement of the winner of the Women’s World Car of the Year is less than a week away!
Charleen Clarke, editor of Women on Wheels magazine, is the sole South African judge of this highly regarded international competition. “I am really honoured to work with a team of incredible female motoring journalists from all over the planet. As you can imagine, we have spent months analysing and debating the potential winners,” she comments.
Numerous cars that are being sold here in South Africa could take the top accolades.
In typical Women’s World Car of the Year guise, the winners of the various categories will be announced and, of course, the supreme winner. “We are recording the television link on Thursday this week in the studio and the winners will be announced via a YouTube link on December 1. The link address will be provided to WOW readers on that date,” says Clarke.
She reveals that this year has produced the closest voting in the five-year history of Women’s World Car of the Year in some categories – in some cases by a fraction of a point. “I would imagine that this is indicative of the competitive market in which we all participate. Gosh there are lots of terrific cars on our roads!” says Clarke.
So, be sure to pop back to our website on December 1. You will be the first to hear The Big News!
Last year’s winner was the Ford Fiesta 1,0 EcoBoost
