Ferrari 458 Speciale kitted out by AddArmor

AddArmor have kitted a Ferrari out in a B4-level armour package. The car is capable of protecting against a .44 Magnum but isn’t going to be the next combat vehicle.

AddArmor has used a unique design that is essentially 10x stronger than ballistic steel, according to Motor1. However, the weight of this is 60% less heavy.

The entire kit adds just over 70kgs to the car’s entire mass. The weight of the vehicle is offset, though, by various carbon fibre upgrades as well as a tweaked exhaust system.

The exhaust system adds 40 horsepower or 29 kilowatts to the Speciale’s 4.5-liter V8. In its entirety, AddArmor’s Ferrari is just over 30kgs heavier.

The car’s best bet for avoiding a dangerous situation, in addition to the armour, the 458 Speciale’s ridiculous top speed of just over 325km/h.

The company’s Anti-Intrusion package is available for any exotic car and starts at $28,000 (R406 884,80).
