Five upgrades on the new Renault Clio we love
The best selling French car of all time, the Renault Clio has some new and improved features.
From the time it was launched in 1990 up until now, the car has surpassed sales of 13 million units.
Now the fourth-generation, which has been described as “the heir to one of the marque’s richest legacies” is the first model to feature the brand’s new design and identity.
Here are five new and upgraded features on the new Clio:
1. New technology
Exclusive to the new Clio Authentique, the R&GO® application is a smartphone/tablet malfunction with an automotive human machine interface (HMI) that adds functionality to the vehicle.
The system is connected to the car using Bluetooth and focuses on four areas; Multimedia focuses on controlling the radio and volume, Phone focuses on making calls, Vehicle Function facilitates ECO driving and Navigation Function gives you the choice of navigation applications such as Google maps, Apple plan, Waze, among others.
2. More power
The new Clio might not be as fast as Renaults F1 cars, but the engines do display optimised power, performance and driving pleasure. The vehicles also efficiently manage fuel consumption and CO2 emission levels.
The F1-inspired engines deliver performance and control.
- 66kW Turbo Petrol Engine: Economical and efficient
- 88kW Turbo Petrol Engine + EDC: Strength and performance
- Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) Automatic Transmission
- Better interior
The new Clio sports a redesigned and redefined interior. The interior has improved in texture, colour and materials. The vehicles now come with materials formerly only used for top-of-the-range Renault models.
Other upgrades include the gear lever and door panels which have been redesigned to give the impression of greater and lasting quality, and the seat fabrics are of a higher quality across-the-board.
- Exterior upgrades
The new Clio sports a reshaped front bumper, the top grille that houses the logo has a more qualitative design and the skirt at the rear has been redesigned to increase robustness.
5. Stylish lighting
The new Clio Dynamique comes with full-LED front lighting signature. It also incorporates C-shape LED Daytime Running Lighting (DRL).
The Expression and Authentique models have redesigned double optic halogen headlights with high-LED DRL fitted in lower front bumper and chrome trim along the bottom of the grille.
