Back in the 1900s, the launch of the Ford Model T allowed many to explore the world timelessly and at their own accord. More than an entire century later, Ford remains true to the face that a vehicle needs to be affordable, accessible and of course, reliable.
“It’s on this historic Freedom Day that Ford South Africa pays tribute to vehicles and mobility, which have given many South Africans their key to endless freedom and amazing destinations,” says Atloli Lesela, Brand Manager at Ford South Africa.
“The car is no longer viewed solely as a means of getting from point A to point B. At Ford, we see the car as part of a much bigger picture, a way to enhance one’s own individual strengths and passions and connect or unite with those around us.”
Ford South Africa has highlighted five Figo features, allowing a new driver to feel confident.
Let’s talk about the engine:
The 1.5-litre petrol engine delivers 91 W with 150 Nm of torque. It uses an aluminium engine block and cylinder head for reduced weight. A twin independent variable camshaft timing (TiVCT) delivers low down torque and top-end power.
Thanks to its drivetrain, the Figo is fuel-efficient and no low running costs. With fuel being ridiculously high, more and more customers consider fuel economy to be the top deciding factor when buying a vehicle.
You are in control no matter where you go:
Manual or Automatic? Very few cars in Figo’s class offer both options. The five-speed manual comes with a new Eco mode and shift indicator. The new six-speed automatic provides smooth, effortless driving and became a popular choice for those who drive in traffic every day.
The Figo is an entry-level vehicle that has no compromise on safety when behind the wheel. The driver and passenger airbags are fitted standard. The Titanium models feature dual side and full-length curtain airbags. This is enhanced by the standard fitment of anti-lock brakes.
The unique Ford MyKey on the Titanium allows owners to programme a key for younger drivers that can inhibit incoming calls, restrict top speed and disable the audio system all at once if occupants are not using their safety seat belts.
Stay connected with your Figo:
The Figo Titanium models are equipped with Ford’s flagship SYNC®3 multimedia system which boasts smartphone connection through Apple CarPlay or Google’s Android Auto.
This transforms Figo’s services and entertainment, including the use of the latest navigation services and audio streaming. To reduce any distraction while driving, these functions can be controlled via voice recognition and buttons featured on the steering wheel
Motor warranty and service planning:
The Figo comes standard with Ford Protect; a 4-year/120 000km comprehensive warranty, 3-year/unlimited distance roadside assistance and 5-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty.
A 4-year/60 000km service plan is included, with 15 000km service intervals. Customer experience is enhanced by a wide service network comprising over 100 dealers countrywide.
“It’s that freedom to choose your own path in life that vehicles like the well-rounded Ford Figo make possible,” concludes Lesela.
