Ford set South African sales record last month
Despite market challenges, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa set a new sales record in July. For the first time ever, total Ford sales exceeded 6 000 vehicles, giving the brand its second-highest ever market share of 12.5%.
Ford sold 6,312 vehicles in South Africa in July, which is an increase of 22% compared to July 2013. So far this year, Ford has sold 37,598 vehicles in South Africa, 21% more than the same period last year. The Ford Ranger also had an all-time sales record of 2,564 bakkies, during the same month that we introduced the new, heavy-duty Ranger XL Plus. The Ford EcoSport, a compact SUV powered by the three-time International Engine of the Year winner, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, had its highest-ever sales total of 1,005 vehicles and was placed in the top 10 passenger vehicles sales result.
