Ride for as little as R19 with UberNam

Uber has launched a cheaper riding alternative, just in time for festive season. Their latest offering, UberNam, is giving passengers the chance to ride in select areas for as little as R19.

UberNam was first rolled out in October 2020. It is available in certain areas of Johannesburg and Cape Town and across Durban. In Johannesburg, areas like Kathlehong, Alex, Boksburg, Benoni, Cosmo City, Tembisa, Diepsloot and Soweto are included and in Pretoria, passengers can cheaply travel to and from Akasia, Mamelodi, Midrand.  In Cape Town, areas like Paarl/Wellington, Peninsula and Strand are covered.

UberNam excludes trips to and from airports in these cities, however.

Simply open the Uber app and request UberNam to get affordable rides to and from the areas below.

Johannesburg (will not be valid for trips to and from any airports):

Cape Town Areas (will not be valid for trips to and from any airports):

Durban: UberNam is available in all areas of Durban that Uber is currently live.

Uber rides typically start at R25, meaning passengers can save about R6 a trip. While passengers benefit, drivers will also be compensated. Uber drivers will receive an extra R6 per UberNam trip, and those who complete more UberNam trips will receive bigger weekly bonus payouts.
