This hearse carrying a dead body was hijacked, seriously!
Some stories are very bizarre, but this one seems like it’s a scene from a movie! An Australian family spoke of their shock after a man jumped out of the bushes and drove off in a hearse carrying the body of a relative just before his funeral.
A couple had been preparing for the funeral of their brother-in-law at a school building last week when the hijack incident took place.
“Just as we were talking in the foyer and one of the funeral directors was getting the trolley to put the coffin on, a guy jumped out of the bushes and jumped into the hearse and started it up,” the family told a news channel.
“The funeral home guy was banging on the window, saying ‘What are you doing? You can’t drive away in a hearse’. We are all standing around, going ‘Oh my God, the hearse has been stolen’.”
A family member jumped into his car to chase the hijacker in the hearse and finally blocked the hearse from driving any further.
The hijacker reportedly responded by climbing out of the car and saying he needs to go to the hospital.
Police officers arrived five minutes later to take the 49-year-old man away, adding that he had dementia and had gone missing from a nursing home earlier Thursday.
No further charges were made and the family saw the bright side of the situation as they commented that the deceased brother-in-law would have found it hilarious.
