Hyundai Veloster ‘Grappler’ Concept at SEMA
The Hyundai Veloster ‘Grappler’ will be shown at the 2019 Speed Equipment Manufacturing Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas this November.
The Grappler concept has increased ground clearance making the vehicle high enough for an off-road activities. The front and rear bumpers were developed to ensure protection whenever the environment turns out to be unpredictable.
‘A Hyundai on steroids’
The Veloster ‘Grappler’ has oversized tyres and rally-themed Method Racing wheels. For extra cargo, a roof-mounted utility basket housing a spare wheel that includes a high-output lighting system from Baja designs.
The roof-mounted utility lights provide excellent illumination for night driving through rough environments, from desert off-roading to basecamp work lights making the ‘Grappler’ ready for any of the ‘unexpected’ from various adventures.
The utility basket is a base mount for a removable solar panel, powering an all-electric portable power station mounted inside the cabin for remote journeys. The carbon-fibre bonnet vents help disperse engine-bay heat when things become a bit hot while on the road.
Inside the cabin is an integrated roll bar providing occupant protection. Furthermore, the interior has traction mats, an oversized utility shovel, portable power unit, roadside assistance kit, first-aid kit, Napier outdoor dome tent, and more. Premium Recaro seats with a vintage hound’s tooth check pattern, gives the interior an overall sporty finish.
The exterior lighting is modulated through a custom-designed switch panel. Hyundai accessories round out the functionality of the vehicle, adding sport pedals, sport shifter, all-weather mats, ambient footwell lighting, and cargo block organisers.
The 2018 SEMA show had more than 70 000 domestic and international buyers. It is a trade-only event that isn’t open to the general public, taking place from the 5 – 8 November 2019 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre providing attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities, and more.
