CEO, KIA Motors South Africa, Gary Scott says, “Seltos is a truly exciting new addition to the KIA line-up in South Africa. As South Africa’s love affair with SUVs continues to grow, we are very excited that we can now offer another progressive, high-quality KIA model in a very competitive segment”.

The all-new Seltos is manufactured at two of KIA’s production facilities. One in Korea, the other in India, each catering to differing regions. South African models will originate from KIA’s new facility in India located in Anantapur, Andra Pradesh province.

The facility represents an investment of US $1 billion and has an annual production capacity of 300 000 units. The facility initially producing only the KIA Seltos opened in January with sales in the Indian market commencing in July this year.

Being a new entrant into the Indian market, KIA Motors commenced retail sales in India alone with the greatest number of dealerships seen for a new car entrant into that market and proved a successful strategy.

KIA is a highly competitive manufacturer. The Seltos broke multiple records in India and secured records on first-day pre-bookings as well as a new record for total pre-bookings prior to the model going on sale (31 796 units). During the first 10 days, the Seltos was on sale, KIA Motors India clocked up a record of 6 200 sales.

The KIA Seltos received high levels of interest in South Africa, with more than 3000 people signing up to be the first knowing about KIA’s exciting new compact SUV. Bakkies and SUVs are very popular in South Africa at the moment, and most make top sales on a monthly basis.

More information and pricing will be released closer to the on-sale date.
