Lexus NX coming to SA
It’s official. After making its debut at the Beijing Motor Show, the new Lexus NX is coming to SA in 2015. The stylish, yet edgy NX is entering the SUV market and catering for customers who are new to the brand; specifically young, active urbanites who seek premium class products.
With its strong and aggressive design the NX hopes to set new standards for future Lexus models. The Lexus’s signature, a prominent spindle grille, is the central focus of the NX’s angular shape strengthened by LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights. The exterior also features a world-first door handle mechanism and 17- or 18-inch wheels.
The interior is designed more like a sports car, yet at the same time Lexus has focused on space and seating. Details of the interior include a thick-rimmed steering wheel and contrasting trims. The driver can also enjoy the latest innovative on-board technologies which include a wireless charging tray; Lexus remote touch interface; panoramic view monitor and a comprehensive multi-informations display with a G-sensor and boost meter.
Three powertrains will be offered: a petrol-electric hybrid in the NX 300h; a 2.0-litre petrol turbo in the NX 200t; and a naturally aspirated petrol unit in the NX 200. The SA powertrain line up will be disclosed closer to the SA launch, however the new turbocharged petrol engine is already confirmed.
