Lunaz is a British company that transforms classic cars into luxurious state-of-the-art electric vehicles, that can be used for generations to come.

“Each classic car by Lunaz represents an uncompromised expression of the original,” says Lunaz founder, David Lorenz.

“Electrification answers the questions of usability, reliability and sustainability and empowers owners to enjoy their cars daily.”

The company’s latest offering furthers the legacy of one of the world’s most famous SUVs, the Range Rover Classic, which was manufactured between 1970 and 1994.

“These recycled and re-engineered examples of the world’s most celebrated off-road vehicle adds an entirely new dimension of usability and reliability,” says Lunaz.

The Rover will be available in two specifications.

The ‘Town’ edition will focus on rear and front-seat luxury, while the four-wheel-drive ‘Country’ edition is for those who want to enjoy zero-emission motoring on all kinds of terrain and conditions.

The updated models will come equipped with modern technology and entertainment systems and air conditioning, according to Top Gear.

The choices are seemingly endless, with customers having a variety of tweaks to choose from, including a bar area in ‘Town’ spec or extra boot space in the ‘Country’ edition, which comes with upgraded suspension and brakes, as well as anti-roll bars for proper off-road ability.

The Rover is stripped down to its bare bones before it is equipped with an electric drivetrain.

Lunaz has been tight-lipped about the design of the electric drivetrain, however, Motor Trend, claims the cars will be offered with either a 60 or 90kWh battery pack.

The electric Range Rover may be a glimpse into the future, in the form of a classic car, as the UK plans to prohibit the sale of new combustion engine-powered cars by 2030 and hybrid cars by 2035.

Lunaz will create 50 of these Range Rover EVs during the first run of production and the pricing starts at a cool £245 000 (R4 895 683). They will be available in 3 or 4-door models.
