Mercedes-Benz CLA and A-Class Sedan

The first CLA model was launched in 2013. More than 75 percent of European customers who drive a CLA coupe chose a Mercedes-Benz again as their next vehicle. Mercedes have sold 750 000 CLA models worldwide.
Introduced in 1997, the A-Class has sold more than six million models globally, winning the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists 2019 SAGMJ Car of the Year award.
The A-Class Sedan incorporates Mercedes-Benz’s new front-end design with slimline headlights, pronounced wheel arches with the option of 17-inch or 18-inch wheels, and two-part tail lights giving the rear a sporty stance.
Much like the A-Class, the interior of the CLA has elements of a high-tech avantgarde design. The dashboard extends across the breadth of the cabin without visual interruption.
As a four-door coupe, the CLA has a sleek and elegant character. A sharp stretched bonnet, multibeam headlights, and diamond grille all contribute to the vehicles’ sporty design. Flared wheel arches, narrow tail lights give the CLA an assertive stance on the road.
The CLA has a widescreen floating infotainment unit with a built-in navigation system, centered on the dash and flanked by turbine looking air vents on either side. The A-Class cockpit is standard with dual 7-inch displays while two 10.25-inch screens are an optional extra.
The Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) offered in the CLA and A-Class, is brilliant technology able to learn about driving habits as well as preferences over time. The MBUX voice-control feature gives occupants various comfort, and MBUX functions.
The ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice control implements various automotive functions. Making it accessible in a variety of ways such as the touchscreen, touchpad or buttons on the steering wheel.
The system is able to distinguish between the commands of the driver and front passenger for example, who might want the seat’s massage function activated. The voice assistance only responds to the command of who said ‘Hey Mercedes’ to activate the system.
In certain situations, the CLA and A-Class are able to drive semi-autonomously adopting functions from the S-Class with an improved camera and radar system; keeping track of traffic up to 500 metres ahead.
Both the CLA and A-Class have Active Distance Assist that provides various assistance to the driver in numerous situations while driving like adjusting the speed of the vehicle when approaching bends or roundabouts.
The new CLA and A-Class comes with Active Brake Assist, depending on the situation preventing rear-end collisions with slower-moving, stop vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. Active Lane Keeping Assist warns the driver with pulsed vibrations through the steering wheel if you are unintentionally drifting out of a lane or crossing over a solid line the vehicle can pull itself back into the lane.
Mercedes-Benz models are developed with the new Technology for Vehicle safety. The A-Class Sedan is equipped with driver and front passenger airbags, a drivers knee airbag and window airbags as standard.
