New Renault Kiger to reach SA shores later in 2021

The new Renault Kiger has recently been revealed in India, and it was just announced that the compact SUV will go on sale in South Africa in the third quarter of 2021.

The five-seater Indian-built Kiger measures in at 3 991 mm with a wheelbase of 2 500 mm. It will feature three driving modes: normal, eco and sports.

While there has been no confirmation of the engine options that will be offered to South African motorists, Indian consumers have a choice between a 1-litre unit with 53kW and 96Nm and a turbocharged version with 74kW and 160Nm.

Both models feature standard five-speed manual transmissions, with an AMT automated manual gearbox for the 1-litre unit and an optional CVT gearbox for the turbocharged engine.

In terms of technology, the Kiger offers up a 20.3cm touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, a 17.8cm configurable TFT instrument cluster, an Arkamys 3D sound system, a hands-free access key card and white ambient lighting.
