New Rolls-Royce Ghost, a car for the ‘post-opulence era’

The British luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce declared that its latest edition of the Ghost is a forward-thinking vehicle for a new era.

Martin Fritsches, the CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Americas, described the 2021 Ghost as a “product that really started to show us a new phase of Rolls-Royce, focusing onto the post-opulence era,” to Yahoo Finance.

Forebears welcome new Ghost to Rolls-Royce family

Fritsches said the manufacturer was able to marry modern technology with classic design in a more subtle way. “Let’s say, a less opulent way,” he added.

Opulence, however, simply oozes from this vehicle. The ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ which has been gracing the automaker’s bonnets for years takes a slightly different approach this time.

“For the first time in Rolls-Royce history, the Spirit of Ecstasy gracefully emerges directly through the car’s bonnet instead of sitting atop the grille,” said Rolls-Royce.

“She now appears as though she is surfacing from the depths of a crystalline body of water, imparting grace and guidance onto each of her passengers.”

Luxury car sales have been faring quite well despite economic hardship and staggering unemployment rates.

Fritsches said Rolls-Royce’s customer base is becoming younger and they are very demanding. He indicated that the new Ghost model was made in direct response to their customers, who are requesting more bespoke and customised vehicles more frequently than before.

The Ghost is the manufacturer’s most popular product and the future of Rolls’ aspirations in the United States and Canada is very much dependent on its success.

“With our current product lineup and further encouraging the customization and the … personalized approach, our trend is to continue expanding our business here, particularly in the U.S., but also markets like Canada,” said Fritsches.
