Porsche Cayman S wins Car of the Year
It was announced last night that the Porsche Cayman S has taken the title of Car of the Year. It was up against some stiff competition including the Volkswagen Golf, Audi A3 Sportback, Volvo V40, Lexus IS350, Jaguar F-Type, Peugeot 208 GTi, Renault Clio 4, Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and the Porsche Cayman S.
There was talk about the current World Car of the Year title holder, the Volkswagen Golf 7, taking the win but the judges, who are made up of South African motoring journalists, decided that it was the Porsche that excelled best in its class.
The winner is decided once each finalist has been put through its paces at Gerotek testing facility. Each judge tests each car at high-speed driving, handling, static evaluations and suspension tests. Then they go though the spec and comparison sheets and check each cars key rivals, resale value and ownership costs.
And so after all this the Porsche Cayman S took top place. Even if most of us probably couldn’t afford one.
