Shine bright like a Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita

The Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, dubbed “a diamond on wheels”, is one of the most expensive cars in the world and is exceptionally rare.

The vehicle’s Swedish manufacturer’s always intended it to be a limited edition – three examples were planned – however, the unique components used to make the Trevira were extremely difficult and time-consuming to work with. In lieu of this Koenigsegg decided to make just two.

“When sunlight hits the Trevita, it sparkles as if millions of tiny white diamonds are infused inside the visible carbon-fibre bodywork,” said Koenigsegg.

It sparkles like a diamond because the manufacturers managed to coat the bodywork with a diamond veneer called the Koenigsegg Proprietary Diamond Weave.

This innovation was especially unique because prior to the Trevita, which is a Swedish abbreviation that translates into “three whites”, automakers only had access to traditionally black carbon fibres.

Besides its sparkly, silvery-white fibres, the Trevita features a unique double carbon rear wing, an iconnell exhaust system, carbon-ceramic brakes with ABS, airbags, paddle-shift and control systems for infotainment, tyre monitoring and hydraulic lifting.

Despite the fact that the car was manufactured in 2010, it consistently cracks the list ‘world’s most expensive car‘ lists. Boxer Floyd Mayweather was one of the owners of this rare vehicle, he reportedly purchased it for $4.8-million (more than R73.4 million).

Mayweather put the Trevita up for auction in 2017 and the motor media industry clamoured to cover it, in much the same way they did when the boxer purchased the car in 2015.

The CCXR Trevita sold for $2.6-million at the auction, according to CNBC.

The vehicle is a powered by a 4.8-litre V8 engine that capable of generating 1018 brake horsepower at 7000 rpm and can go from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

It can reach a top speed of more than 410km/h and decelerate quickly – going from 100km/h to a halt in 32 metres.
