Updated Subaru XV Range for 2016
The Subaru XV adds its own adventurous take on the crossover segment. Nothing’s changed with the introduction of the 2016 Subaru XV model to South Africa.
One of the Hallmarks of the Subaru XV is its athletic, confident and bold styling. At the front of the car, the hexagonal front grille has now been tweaked with a larger chrome split wing. The shape of the front bumper has also been revised to include accented chrome plating – that now surrounds the fog lamps and gives the car a more modern look. The Subaru common motif has also been slightly extended and the HID headlamps now include white indicator bulbs, bringing the XV more in line with the rest of the Subaru line-up.
A standout trait of the XV is the 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with black inlays and silver spokes that have now been slightly turned to convey a sense of movement to the overall design. The centre hub of the wheel now boasts the Subaru Six-Star emblem in a clear cap. The wheel designs alone, leave you in no doubt as to the to the Subaru XV’s all-terrain capability.
Subaru has smartly blended robust body-cladding that surrounds the entire vehicle leaving you more confident to go wherever the adventure takes you.
The Subaru XV now boasts interior appointments more in line with its larger and more expensive siblings. The steering wheel has changed to to match the one found on Legacy and Outback models – with satellite controls for audio, voice recognition, cruise control and use of the Multi-mode trip computer.
Silver paddle shifters on the steering wheel have now been re-introduced on the CVT models for easier use of the manual transmission mode.
To enhance the previously silver palette on the doors, instrument panel and dashboard, the new Subaru XV is finished in high gloss black panels also more in line with other newer models in the range.
The Subaru XV remains an overachiever in its segment! The new XV retains the same award-winning 2.0-litre Boxer® 4-cylinder DOHC petrol engine. This economical yet responsive unit boasts 110 kW of power at 6200 RPM and 196 Nm of torque at 4200 RPM. Mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a LineartronicTM Continuously Variable Transmission, the XV is capable of achieving 8.0l/100km or 7.9l/100km respectively.
At Subaru, safety is of utmost importance. Active safety features include:
- Seven SRS airbags;
- Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) with ABS, BAS and EBD
- Passive safety features include a number of reinforced areas such as the toe board to protect against the rearward movement of the pedal in a case of collision
The XV is 5* Euro NCAP and ANCAP safety-rated and has also received the IIHS Top Safety Pick, making it one of the safest vehicles in the world.
The new XV is now on sale countrywide, with Subaru Southern Africa offering the Subaru XV with a 5 year / 120 000km full Maintenance Plan Extension, as a special launch offer until 31 March 2016.
