The new BMW X1 – just dashing!
A typical BMW X model: sturdy proportions, impressive variability and established premium characteristics.
The BMW X1’s rugged design, its powerful presence and dynamic lines – lend a commanding appearance to BMW’s X model family. Slightly larger than its predecessor – the X1 is optimised for spaciousness and driver comfort.
The second-generation BMW X1 lines up with the all-new selection of engines, featuring:
- Two petrol and one diesel variants.
- All of which, come with four cylinders.
- Outputs ranging from 110kW to 170kW.
- The engines link up with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed Steptronic unit, both of which are new developments.
The xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system takes its place in the new BMW X1 in a further developed form. This weight-saving technology improves efficiency and performance, distributing drive between the front and rear axles.
A new addition to the range of BMW ‘ConnectedDrive’ features is a BMW Head-Up Display. This projects driving-related information directly onto the windscreen!
This can also be specified with the Driving Assistant Plus line-up of the Active Cruise Control System. This features the ‘Stop & Go’ function, ‘Lane Departure Warning’, ‘Traffic Jam Assistant’, ‘Collision Warning’, ‘Pedestrian Warning’ and ‘City Braking’ functions. These features are also complemented by up an assortment of cutting edge apps, allowing customers to further improve their driving experience.
The new BMW X1 goes on sale in South Africa from October 2015 and is offered in the following engine variants:
