The new Mini hatch will be smaller than its predecessor

Arriving in 2023, the new Mini hatch will be smaller than the current model but still sticking to the classic, iconic car we know and love.

Speaking to Autocar, head of Mini Bernd Körber said: “What’s important is that the entire portfolio needs to have the DNA of Mini. After more than 60 years, it’s necessary that Mini makes a bold step ahead, but it also has to stay true to its core, and that’s the three-door hatch.”

He continued: “What you’ll see in 2023 is that we’ve clearly modernised it by taking a big step, the biggest step in the last 20 years, but it will be unmistakably a Mini.”

The car will be available in 2023 in both petrol and electric powertrain options.

Mini launched an electric vehicle that arrived in South Africa this year. The car is packs a lot of power among many other green benefits.

The first all-electric Mini Cooper SE is dynamic and nearly silent, bringing drivers a whole new driving experience. The car is powered by a 96-cell 32.6 kWh lithium-ion (gross capacity) battery pack situated under the vehicle’s floor.
